The Y2Tribe is a Youth & Community Engagement Social Enterprise specialising in creating meaningful opportunities for connection, mentorship, coaching and belonging.
Through many years of grassroots work within communities, we have seen children, young people and adults experience disconnection, isolation, loneliness and disappointment that can prevent them from recognising their strengths and reaching their full potential.
We kept coming back to one important question:
What’s missing? For us, a big part of the answer is connection and belonging.
We believe everyone needs people around them who see them, value them and encourage them.
Everyone needs somewhere they feel they belong. We call that their Tribe.
Connection Changes the energy and Dynamic.
At Y2Tribe, we believe connection creates trust. Trust creates belief. Belief creates belonging. And belonging creates the foundation for positive, sustainable change.
That's why we don't simply deliver programs. We intentionally create connection opportunities — spaces, experiences and relationships where people can meet, engage, be heard, build confidence and discover that they are part of something bigger than themselves.
We do this through:Youth & Community Engagement
Mentorship & Coaching
School and Youth Programs
Community Activations & Connection Opportunities
Workshops, Training & Facilitation
Partnerships with schools, organisations, businesses and community groups. Our approach is relational, strengths-based and, trauma informed and grounded in the belief that meaningful change often begins with a meaningful connection.
It Takes a Tribe — and a VillageWe know that no single person, program or organisation can create lasting change alone.
A strong Tribe is made up of diverse people, relationships and opportunities, supported by the wider village — families, schools, community organisations, services, sporting groups, churches, businesses and other community supports.
Our role is often to help bring those pieces together.
We create opportunities for people to connect with themselves, with others and with their wider community, helping build stronger relationships and a powerful sense of community and belonging.
What Does Y2Tribe Mean?
Y (YOU) + 2 (TO WAY Connection) = TRIBE (COMMUNITY)Connecting YOU to your TRIBE.
Y2Tribe Frameworks| Framework / Approach | How it aligns with the Y2Tribe |
|---|
| Positive Youth Development (PYD) | Focuses on young people's strengths, relationships, opportunities, contribution and potential rather than seeing young people as problems to be fixed. |
| Developmental Relationships Framework | Strong relationships with trusted adults help young people grow, feel supported, develop agency and expand their possibilities. This is Y2Tribe's mentoring/coaching approach. |
| Strengths-Based Practice | Starts with people's abilities, strengths, interests, resources and aspirations rather than deficits. |
| Trauma-Informed Practice | Creates environments based on safety, trust, choice, collaboration and empowerment. Particularly relevant to Y2Tribe's safe-space approach. |
| Social & Emotional Learning (SEL) | Supports self-awareness, relationships, decision-making, emotional regulation and social awareness. This fits strongly with Build Your Tribe. |
| Community Development / Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) | Builds community from existing people, relationships, skills and local resources. This fits your wider idea of the "tribe" and "village". |
| Social Capital Theory | Connection creates networks, trust, reciprocity and access to opportunities—very close to Y2Tribe's philosophy that connection leads to belonging and opportunity. |
| Belonging / School Belonging Frameworks | A person's sense that they are accepted, valued and included is associated with engagement and wellbeing. This is central to Y2Tribe. |
| Ecological Systems Theory | Recognises that young people are influenced by family, peers, school, community and wider systems—not just by individual choices. |
| Person-Centred Practice | Puts the young person, adult's voice, goals, choices and experiences at the centre rather than professionals deciding everything for them. |
